Crime And Motorists

A business man who is not political, just trying to make a living writes:-

Hi,

I was the victim of a crime about a week ago on St Patricks day [ 2010 ]. The Police officers involved were professional, courteous and efficient... However, the POLICY of the police absolutely staggered, and to be honest, enraged me.

It's the second time in a year that I've personally been a victim of crime. On the last occasion my house was burgled and -- hand on heart -- the Police weren't interested in pursuing it. ...Even though I knew the person responsible and they had *admitted* what they had done.

I spoke to a "mole" we have who works within the Police force and he told me about how letting burglars off with a caution is now quite common place due to new guidelines about when to issue criminals with cautions rather than charging them.

So the obvious question is: WHY are minor motoring offences pursued with such systematic ruthlessness that if you don't want to roll over and accept the fine and points, as most people do, your only option is to employ a good specialist lawyer.

Anyhow, this is not a sales pitch for DriveProtect.

Instead, I wanted to ask you:

Do you think that the Police are now wasting resources pursuing and prosecuting motorists, and in so doing are letting criminals get away with ...well, not robbing banks... but violent crimes and burglary?

The above question sounds like and except from some over hyped tabloid newspaper column, but now that I've personally experienced it myself...TWICE...I've seen with my own eyes how the Police are letting criminals off and for me that makes their relentless pursuit of motorists all the more distasteful.

But what I'd like to ask is - what do you think?

Safe driving,
