Drug Legalization

An Economist Explains

http://www.truehigh.com -- Harvard economist Jeffrey Miron deconstructs the reasons why the war on drugs needs to stop. He gives five reasons:-
1 Crime Reduction
2 Reduced demand for [ legal ] guns
3 Fewer HIV infections
4 Enhance respect for the law
5 Shrink the deficit - less money wasted on prisons.

The video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti3QAlKx10c&feature=related tells us that half of all police corruption is drug related. Perhaps this is because there is more money involved. Perhaps police do not regard narcotics as real crime.
