From Encyclopędia Britannica Eleventh Edition It was an important reference work in its day before the Internet became so useful. It has been put on line but the scanning process introduced major errors. One use is when reading Behind Communism by Frank L Britton although he is probably referring to a later edition since he published circa 1952.
The Wikipedia's commentary tells us that there are various modern criticisms. One of them is politically controversial. The Encyclopędia tells us that Negroes are intellectually inferior. This is disputed by various left wing subversives and upheld by Griffe du Lion

It was taken over by Sears Roebuck in 1920. The firm was controlled by Julius Rosenwald, a Jew and, one has to believe rewritten over the years to match his prejudices. The truth was secondary. In 1994 it was bought by Jacqui Safra, another Jew so the editorial policy will be the same and the truth be damned.
