Haiti recently [ January 2010 ] made it into the news by having a large earthquake which killed thousands. We are invited to sympathize and send money. Some people have a more jaundiced view of the place and the inmates. Herewith are sources. Look for yourself. Think for yourself. Decide for yourself.

The sob stories went out but someone collected all the pictures of the fighting, looting and general nastiness that went with the tragedies. The camera cannot lie? It can but when it comes to choosing the pictures the bias can really set to work.

It was taken over by the French who imported slaves to do the work. It was rich, prosperous and exporting lots of sugar. But the blacks were disgruntled. They revolted and it was downhill all the way from there.
