https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hecatoncheires
In
Greek mythology, the Hecatoncheires (;
Greek: Ἑκατόγχειρες,
translit. Hekatónkheires,
lit. "Hundred-Handed Ones"), or Hundred-Handers,
also called the Centimanes,[1]
(;
Latin: Centimani), named Cottus, Briareus
(or Aegaeon) and Gyges (or Gyes), were three monstrous
giants, of enormous size and strength, with fifty heads and one hundred
arms. In the standard tradition they were the offspring of
Uranus (Sky) and
Gaia (Earth),
who helped Zeus
and the
Olympians overthrow the
Titans.
Names
The three Hundred-Handers were named Cottus, Briareus and Gyges. Cottus (Κόττος)
is a common
Thracian name, and is perhaps related to the name of the Thracian
goddess Kotys.[2]
The name Briareus (Βριάρεως) was probably formed from the Greek
βριαρός meaning "strong".[3]
Hesiod's
Theogony also calls him "Obriareus".[4]
The name Gyges is possibly related to the mythical
Attic king
Ogyges (Ὠγύγης).[5]
"Gyes", rather than Gyges, is found in some texts.[6]
Homer's
Iliad
gives Briareus a second name, saying that Briareus is the name the gods call
him, while Aegaeon (Αἰγαίων) is the name that men call him.[7]
The root αἰγ- is found in words associated with the sea: αἰγιαλός
"shore", αἰγες and αἰγάδες "waves".[8]
The name suggests a connection with the
Aegean
Sea.[9]
Poseidon
was sometimes called Aegaeon or Aegaeus (Αἰγαῖος).[10]
Aegaeon could be a
patronymic, i.e. "son of Aegaeus",[11]
or it could instead mean "the man from Aegae".[12]
The name Hecatoncheires derives from the Greek ἑκατόν (hekaton,
"hundred") and χείρ (cheir, "hand” or "arm"). Although the
Theogony describes the three brothers as having one hundred hands (ἑκατὸν
μὲν χεῖρες),[13]
the collective name Hecatoncheires (Ἑκατόγχειρες), i.e. the
Hundred-Handers, is never used.[14]
The Theogony once refers to the brothers collectively as "the gods
whom Zeus brought up from the dark",[15]
otherwise it simply uses their individual names: Cottus, Briareus (or
Obriareus) and Gyges.[16]
The Iliad does not use the name Hecatoncheires either, although it
does use the adjective hekatoncheiros (ἑκατόγχειρος), i.e.
"hundred-handed", to describe Briareus. It is possible that
Acusilaus used the name,[17]
however, the first certain usage is found in the works of the mythographers
such as
Apollodorus.[18]
Mythology
The Hundred-Handers
The Hundred-Handers, Cottus, Briareus and Gyges, were three monstrous
giants, of enormous size and strength, with fifty heads and one hundred
arms.[19]
They were among the eighteen offspring of
Uranus (Sky) and
Gaia (Earth),
which also included the twelve
Titans, and the three one-eyed
Cyclopes. According to the
Theogony
of Hesiod,
they were the last of these children of Uranus to be born, while according
to the mythographer
Apollodorus they were the first.[20]
In the Hesiodic tradition, they played a key role in the Greek succession
myth, which told how the Titan Cronus overthrew his father Uranus, and how
in turn Zeus overthrew Cronus and his fellow Titans, and how Zeus was
eventually established as the final and permanent ruler of the cosmos.[21]
According to the standard version of the succession myth, given in the
accounts of Hesiod and Apollodorus, the Hundred-Handers, along with their
brothers the Cyclopes, were imprisoned by their father Uranus.[22]
Gaia induced Cronus to castrate Uranus, and Cronus took over the supremacy
of the cosmos.[23]
With his sister the Titaness
Rhea, Cronus fathered several offspring, but he swallowed each of them
at birth. However, Cronus' last child
Zeus was saved
by Rhea, and Zeus freed his brothers and sisters, and together they (the
Olympians) began a great war, the
Titanomachy, against the Titans, for control of the cosmos.[24]
Gaia had foretold that, with the help of the Hundred-Handers, the Olympians
would be victorious, so Zeus released them from their captivity and the
Hundred-Handers fought alongside the Olympians against the Titans and were
instrumental in the Titans' defeat. The Titans were then imprisoned in
Tartarus with the Hundred-Handers as their guards.[25]
The lost epic poem the
Titanomachy (see below), although probably written after Hesiod's
Theogony,[26]
perhaps preserved an older tradition in which the Hundred-Handers fought on
the side of the Titans, rather than the Olympians.[27]
According to a
euhemeristic rationalized account, given by
Palaephatus, Cottus and Brriareos, rather than being hundred-handed
giants, were instead men, who were called the Hundred-Handers because they
lived in a city called Hecatoncheiria ("Hundredarm"). They came to the aid
of the residents of the city of
Olympia (i.e. the Olympians) in driving away the Titans from their city.[28]

Stickers from an anonymous white supremacist group have
been spotted in Abbots Langley.
The far-right group, known as the ‘Hundred Handers’ are
an online group using social media platforms to promote
racist and political messages by posting stickers in public
spaces.
Some of the stickers read ‘Anarcho-tyranny in Britain’
and ‘Reject White Guilt’.
Abbots Langley Parish Councillor, Liz Burns, who brought
this to the attention of AbbotsNews said the
news was very “concerning”.
She said: “I was just shocked to see these stickers in
our little area – no one has reported any more sightings to
me yet. I do think it is concerning – we need squash this
out of our village.”
Hundred Handers takes its name from Greek mythology,
three children of Titans, Uranus and Gaea. Each one had one
hundred hands, fifty heads and possessed superhuman
strength.
Stickers have been appearing in at least four locations
in Abbots Langley on metal fences, gates and lampposts.
One confirmed location is a road sign on the roundabout
with High Street and Tibbs Hill Road. Stickers are marked
with “What is the Kalergi Plan?”, “Import the third world to
become the third world” and “Maori: On NZ for 700 years
Natives. British: On GB for 1,500 years ‘Nation of
Immigrants’”.
Resident Chris Whatley-Smith said: “Its first I’ve heard
of it. The police should deal with the crime appropriately –
it’s disgusted.”
Richard Harrington, MP for Abbots Langley has said there
is no place of hate crime like this.
He said: “I am disgusted by the littering of these
stickers throughout the peaceful village of Abbots Langley.
Hateful messaging like this has no place in Watford or the
UK.”
The parish council told AbbotsNews they
would remove any sightings of racist, defamatory or graffiti
drawings on its property.
This is not the first time the stickers have appeared in
the village. Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed to
AbbotsNews two stickers had been previously
removed.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Police in Abbots
Langley have received a report that a number of racially
aggravated stickers were found on a bus stop in the town, as
well as outside the library, on April 28.
“A member of the public had removed them before officers
were able to attend however enquiries are being carried out
as to the origin of the stickers.
“If you have any information that could assist the
investigation, please contact police quoting reference

or call the non-emergency number 101.”
Three Rivers District Council commented: “Tackling hate
crime and extremism is a priority area of work for the Three
Rivers Community Safety Partnership.
“We work with partners to raise awareness, talk to local
groups about the types of hate crime and inform people of
how to report. We value the information provided by

How The Alt-Right Is Using Covid-19 As Cover To Spread Propaganda Alleges
Daily Telegraph
QUOTE
How the alt-right is using Covid-19 as cover to spread propaganda
Efforts by far-right groups to deceive and disrupt advocacy groups have
become more sophisticated than ever before Earlier in the year, posters and stickers spouting
racist messages began appearing in some London tube
stations.
The stickers, which used the logo of Extinction
Rebellion, the campaign group, implored people to “preserve
an endangered species of white Brits”. They described
coronavirus as a “cure” to end the “disease” that was
mankind.
The campaign - which received widespread attention on
social media platforms including Twitter - provoked an
angry response. It forced
Extinction Rebellion to issue a
statement that it had no knowledge of the posters, which
were in “no way a representation of the principles and
values held by the movement”.
So who was behind it? The Telegraph can reveal the
campaign appears to have been the work of a hard
right organisation that has been using increasingly
sophisticated tactics to spread its propaganda..................
In another incident earlier this month, right-wing trolls
launched a campaign to disrupt gay-friendly virtual
nightclub nights, including an event hosted in the UK.
The group behind the fake Extinction Rebellion posts
is known as the "Hundred Handers", an anonymous network of
activists. It has also been using private messaging app
Telegram to disseminate official logos and fonts to members
so they can recreate their own versions of the stickers,
according to an in-depth investigation by the
Zinc Network,
an agency that tracks [ alleged ] disinformation.
"Private messaging services are difficult to monitor or
police," a spokesman for Zinc says. "They are being used by
the far-right to misrepresent the views of environmental
campaigners with the aim of turning people against one
another and undermining community cohesion."............
Extinction Rebellion said the account had been shared by
prominent journalists who had fallen “into the trap of
spreading this far-right propaganda far and wide”.
“We can’t stress how important a journalist’s role is in
fact-checking and clarifying information before sharing,”
the group said.

Extinction Rebellion ex Wiki
Extinction Rebellion (abbreviated as XR) is a socio-political
movement with the stated aim of using
civil disobedience and
nonviolent resistance to protest against
climate breakdown,
biodiversity loss, and the risk of social and
ecological collapse.[1][3]
Extinction Rebellion was established in the United Kingdom in May 2018
with about one hundred academics signing a call to action in support in
October 2018,[4]
and launched at the end of October by
Roger Hallam,
Gail Bradbrook, Simon Bramwell, and other activists from the campaign
group Rising Up![5]
In November 2018, 5 bridges across the
Thames River in London were blockaded.[6]
In April 2019 Extinction Rebellion occupied 5 prominent sites in central
London:
Piccadilly Circus,
Oxford Circus,
Marble Arch,
Waterloo Bridge and the area around
Parliament Square.
Citing inspiration from
grassroots movements such as
Occupy,
Gandhi's Satyagraha, the
suffragettes,
Gene
Sharp[7],
Martin Luther King and others in the
civil rights movement, Extinction Rebellion wants to rally support
worldwide around a common sense of urgency to tackle climate breakdown.[8][6]
A number of activists in the movement accept arrest and imprisonment,[9]
similar to the mass arrest tactics of the
Committee of 100 in 1961.
The movement uses a circled hourglass, known as the
Extinction Symbol, to serve as a warning that time is rapidly running
out for many species.[10][11]
Roger Hallam ex Wiki
Julian Roger Hallam (born May 1966)[1]
is a British environmental activist, a co-founder of
Extinction Rebellion[2]
and
cooperative federation organisation
Radical Routes.[3]
Hallam was previously an organic farmer in Wales; he attributes the
destruction of his business to a series of extreme weather events.[4]
Between at least 2017 and early 2019 he was studying for a PhD in
civil disobedience at
King's College London,[5]
researching how to achieve social change through radical movements.[6]
In January 2017, in an action to urge King's College London to
divest from fossil fuels, Hallam and another person, using water-soluble
chalk-based spray paint,[4]
painted "Divest from oil and gas", "Now!" and "Out of time" on the
university's Strand campus entrance.[7][5]
They were arrested in February when they again spray painted the
university's Great Hall,[7]
charged by the state with criminal damage and fined £500.[8]
In May 2019, after a three day trial at
Southwark Crown Court, they were cleared by a jury of all charges,
having argued in their defence that their actions were a
proportionate response to the
climate crisis.[5]
In March 2017, Hallam went on
hunger strike to demand the university divest from fossil fuels—the
institution had millions of pounds invested in fossil fuels but no
investment in renewable energy.[8]
Five weeks after the first protest, the university removed £14m worth of
investments from fossil fuel companies and pledged to become
carbon neutral by 2025.[4][9]
Hallam is a co-founder of
Extinction Rebellion, with
Gail Bradbrook and Simon Bramwell.[2][6][10][11]
He stood unsuccessfully in the
2019 European Parliament election in the
London constituency as an independent, winning 924 of the 2,241,681
votes cast.[12]
Gail Bradbrook ex Wiki
Gail Marie Bradbrook (born 30 April 1972)[1]
is the co-founder of the international social movement
Extinction Rebellion.
Bradbrook was born in 1972 and grew up in
South Elmsall in
Yorkshire. Her father worked at a mine in
South Kirkby. She studied molecular biophysics at the
University of Manchester and carried on with a PhD. She carried out
post-doctoral work in India and France.[2][1]
From 2003 to 2017 she was 'director of strategy' at
Citizens Online, an organisation promoting wider internet access for
disabled users, including launching a 'Fix the Web' campaign in November
2010.[3]
Activism
Bradbrook has been involved in various campaigning groups in Stroud,
including a 2010–13 period as voluntary director of
Transition Stroud,[4][5]
an anti-fracking protest,[6]
and various actions in opposition to the building of a local incinerator.[7][8][9]
In 2015, with George Barda, she set up the group Compassionate Revolution[10][11][12]
which morphed into Rising Up!, out of which came
Extinction Rebellion (XR).[2]
Bradbrook was involved in an early Extinction Rebellion
roadblock in Stroud.[13]
She is protesting to raise awareness of the dangers from
anthropogenic climate change and believes that only civil disobedience
on a large scale can bring about the change that is needed.[14]
Private life
Bradbrook has been married twice, the first time to Professor
Jeffrey Forshaw.[15]
She has two sons.[2][16]
She lives in
Stroud with her partner Simon Bramwell, who is a co-founder of
Extinction Rebellion.
Richard Walton ex Powerbase
Richard William Walton (born June 1965) is a former Head of
Counter-Terrorism Command (SO15) within the
Metropolitan Police Service. In March 2014, the
Ellison Review into corruption and spying around the
Stephen Lawrence Murder Inquiry revealed Walton had a meeting with an
undercover officer infiltrating campaign groups working closely with the
Lawrence family. At that time, Walton was part of the
Lawrence Review Team, preparing the Metropolitan Police submissions and
responses to the Macpherson Inquiry into the failed murder investigation.
The meeting had been set up by
Bob Lambert, acting chief of the
Special Demonstration Squad, and handler of the undercover identified as
"N81".
Ellison was critical of the meeting taking place, calling it
'wrong-headed' and noted that it could have sparked disorder if it had
become publicly known. He also criticised Walton for retracting his detailed
earlier statement once he knew he would be criticised.[1]
As a result of this criticism and public outcry over spying on the Lawrences,
Walton was 'temporarily' removed from his post and his conduct was referred
to the
Independent Police Complaint Commission (IPCC). He was reinstated on 1
December 2014. However, in May 2015 the IPCC announced the investigation was
continuing and being widened.
In January 2016 it emerged that Walton was retiring ahead of any outcome,
a move that would allow him to avoid disciplinary hearings following the
IPCC probe. This came under criticism from Stephen Lawrence's mother Doreen
who called on Commissioner
Bernard Hogan-Howe to suspend Walton, saying:[2]
-
- I find it upsetting to think that Commander Walton might be able
to retire without being held to account... He shouldn't be allowed
to retire just when the IPCC says there's a case to answer.
Later it became clear that he retired just six days after the IPCC
submitted its findings to the Metropolitan Police. He would have had a case
to answer, because his actions could have potentially undermined the public
inquiry into the case and public confidence in it.[3]
Former terror chief warns Extinction Rebellion are extreme anarchist
group [ 17 July 2019 ]
A former Head of the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command (SO15)
has warned that
Extinction Rebellion are an extreme anarchist group and should be
treated as such.
Richard Walton, Senior Fellow at Policy Exchange, says the movement of
climate protestors seeks a “subversive agenda” rooted in political
extremism, eco-socialism and radical anti-capitalism.
Formed in 2018, the group is now made up of
tens of thousands of followers spread across hundreds of local groups –
Mr Walton claims it is a campaign of a pre-existing network of activists
called ‘Rising Up!’, the campaigning arm of a company called Compassionate
Revolution Ltd, which he believes has origins in the anti-globalisation
Occupy Movement.
XR Globetrotter Enjoys Luxury Life Style

An Extinction Rebellion activist who shed 'crocodile tears' over a man who
missed his dying father's final hours after being caught up in protests
enjoyed a globe-trotting, jet set lifestyle, MailOnline can reveal.
Zoe Jones broke down and apologised after hearing how the man became
stuck in traffic as he rushed to the hospital to see his dying dad because
climate protesters glued themselves to a bathtub on one of Bristol's busiest
roads.
Miss Jones told a
BBC reporter: 'We're incredibly sorry. We didn't mean for our protest to
affect your life in this way.' But she continued: 'I still believe we are
doing the right thing. But it is incredibly difficult to hear stories like
that.
Many viewers of her interview slammed Miss Jones's 'crocodile tears' and
called for her and fellow Extinction Rebellion - XR - protesters to leave
the area.
Now the 23-year-old eco-warrior faces claims
of hypocrisy after photos emerged of her carbon spewing lifestyle,
globetrotting to far-flung exotic locations.
